How Regenerative Leadership Can Change the World

We recently attended a virtual talk by Simon Mainwaring. Simon stated his beliefs about the incredible power of “transcendent leadership”, what we call regenerative leadership.

Here are 5 top takeaways.

  1. Commitment to collaborative leadership that encourages everyone to grow, developing “connective tissue” that will help us extend beyond sustainability to regeneration of the natural world.
In my view, this speaks to necessary and rapid changes of business mindsets and systems in ways that will lead to restoration and protection of the more than human world.

  2. Evaluation of the ways in which we are showing up differently in our companies and communities.

  3. Taking ownership of the ways in which each of us have contributed to environmental destruction.

  4. Working toward achieving a “transcendent level of business” which seeks to restore harmony between business and the natural world. This necessarily requires a shift from an anthropocentric worldview to an Earth-centered worldview.

  5. Entering a period of rebirth which is necessarily painful.
We are entering a time to seek how to learn from the natural world, to work and live in mutually beneficial ways, and to creatively serve all living systems rather than taking from them.

As we have, Simon has great hope that the natural world will “dazzle us” with its ability to regenerate when we come together.
