Design Outreach Celebrates Five Years and LifePump™ Impact in Eight Countries
Give Water Gala to Debut Documentary by Emmy-award Winner Mike Edwards
Columbus, Ohio – August 24, 2018 – Columbus-based humanitarian engineering nonprofit Design Outreach will host its annual Give Water Gala on September 20 in celebration of the fifth anniversary of the nonprofit and its first permanent LifePump™ installation in Malawi. The Gala will showcase the public debut of a new short-form documentary by 12-time Emmy-award winning director, cinematographer, and Gahanna resident Mike Edwards.
“The concept for LifePump was born from our experiences in Central Asia and Africa where we witnessed extreme poverty and water insecurity,” said Greg Bixler, who co-founded Design Outreach with fellow engineer Abe Wright. “With the generous help of Mike Edwards, we will share incredible stories of transformation through the magic of film.”
“My wife and I previously co-sponsored a Kenyan well project, so we were passionate about this film from the start,” said Mike Edwards of The 5 Stones Group. “It’s our hope that the film will highlight the unwavering faith and perseverance of the Design Outreach team, while telling the story of the radically transformative power of water.”
Design Outreach has helped change the lives of more than 20,000 people in 51 communities across eight countries, with plans for 50 additional LifePump installations by spring of 2019. Save a seat for the Give Water Gala by September 7 at http://bit.ly/give-water-gala to share in a special evening of celebration.
